We’ve decided against doing a mix of tracks we are digging this month and instead we are just gonna point you in the right direction via this blog post. We’ve got another special bonus traxx night in the pipeline so we’ll be making a mix for that and anyway does anyone listen to 60 minute mixes any more ?
So read on and check out a few of the tracks that have caught our ear and will probably catch yours if your coming along anytime in May.
Bobby Tank - Afterburn
You may be suprised to hear that we are big fans of this track, we havent always been the biggest supporters of this type of sound, but this stood out a mile from all the tracks we got sent from the promo company last week. We’re not suprised however to find that lots of people at Radio 1 most notably Zane Lowe are going absolutley ga ga over it. The rest of the EP is just as good but little less manic than this track.
Shadow Dancer - Second City EP
Shadow Dancer continue to evolve their sound on this new EP. Like many Boys Noize related acts they have slowly withdrawn from the sound the label was know for into a slightly deeper but still pretty groove orientated sound. This track here, the title track of EP is our favourite, although ‘Jamma’ is pretty close behind. Artwork for the EP is a bit shit though.
Late Nite Tuff Guy - One Nite in a Disco
We have no idea who Late Nite Tuff Guy is but what we do know is that he does some of THE BEST edits on the planet. This one is a good example of that, a major reworking of Sister Sledge’s - He’s The Greatest Dancer.
Jaguar Trax - All I Dream
Initially dismissed by us when it dropped in our email box, this track slowly grew on us when we started hearing it all over the place and now its probably one of the most hyped tracks in dance music at the moment. Wish they’d get a decent video onto YouTube this plant/insect (or is it a bird) combo on this video doesnt really make for compulsive viewing.
