For the past year or so i have been playing in Glasgow’s one and only Brazilian Bar ‘Boteco Do Brasil’. When i took the job on i had almost no knowledge of Latin/Brazilian music and throughout the past year its fair to say the journey of discovery has been fascinating. One night though they decided for some reason to have a disco night, and while i played none of the songs on here it did get me thinking……
Pushing the boat out a little and straying from the comforts of modern electronic music let’s check out a genre that we thought might not actually exist, BRAZILIAN DISCO. This assumption was quite silly in retrospect, of course Brazil got disco, everywhere GOT disco, and while not always done particularly well by the Brazilian’s they did thrown in their own twist to it. Here though we have tried to include all the best tracks we could find, some are in English but most are in Portuguese.
